How to Identify Inferior Steel Products?

Inferior steel products are prone to folding. Folding refers to various broken lines formed on the surface of steel, and this kind of defect often runs through the longitudinal direction of the entire product. The reason for folding is that inferior manufacturers pursue high efficiency and the reduction amount is relatively large, resulting in ears, and then folding occurs during the next rolling process. Once the folded products are bent, they will crack, and the strength of the steel will be greatly reduced.

The surface of inferior steel products often has a pitted surface phenomenon. A pitted surface is a defect of irregular bumps and hollows on the surface of steel caused by severe wear of the rolling groove. Since inferior steel product manufacturers pursue profits, the rolling times of the rolling groove often exceed the standard.

It is easy for inferior steel products to form scabs on the surface. One reason is that the materials of inferior steel products are uneven and there are many impurities. Another reason is that the guiding and protecting equipment of inferior steel product manufacturers is simple and crude, and it is easy for steel to stick. After these impurities bite into the rolls, scabs are likely to form.

Cracks are prone to occur on the surface of inferior steel materials. The reason is that the billets used are adobe billets which have many pores. During the cooling process, due to the action of thermal stress, cracks are generated, and then there are cracks after rolling.

Inferior steel products are easily scratched. The reason is that the equipment of inferior steel product manufacturers is simple and crude, and burrs are easily generated, which scratch the surface of the steel. Deep scratches will reduce the strength of the steel.

Inferior steel products have no metallic luster and are light red or similar to the color of pig iron.

The rolling temperature of inferior steel products is not standardized. Their steel temperature is judged by visual inspection, so it is impossible to roll in the specified austenite region as required, and naturally the performance of the steel cannot meet the standards.

The transverse ribs of inferior steel products are thin and low, and the phenomenon of incomplete filling often occurs. The reason is that in order to achieve a large negative tolerance, manufacturers increase the reduction amount in the previous several processes before the finished product, the iron type is relatively small, and the pass is not fully filled.
